Avilla School Reading Buddies & Adopt-a-Teacher Program
Avilla Calvary enjoys a close partnership with the Avilla Elementary School. Our two primary connections are through our "Reading Buddies" Program in which volunteers from the community spend about 20 minutes every other week with children in need of some on-on-one attention. Our "Adopt-a-Teacher" program focuses on teachers that are new to the Avilla School each fall. In addition to praying for these teachers, we also receive wish lists from them and help provide items for their classrooms in order to defray some of their out-of-pocket expenses.
Avilla Christmas Charities
Avilla Calvary partners with the Lutheran and Catholic churches in town to organize and provide Christmas assistance to families in Avilla and LaOtto. Applications for assistance generally become available in October.
